Question: What is the procedure for animal product and plant import?
Agricultural products to be imported are supervised by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock from human health and security, animal and plant existence and health aspects. Within this scope, some animals and animal products are subjected to veterinary inspections at the border checkpoints.
In accordance with Communication of Product Safety and Inspection (No: 2015/5), the Certificate of Conformity which has to be submitted to the customs along with customs declaration, is regulated for those products enlisted in Appendices by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock.
Animals are brought into Turkey as a part of a competition or exhibition, gifted to administrative chief or military personnel, for purposes of being exhibited in zoos, granted to our state, to be used in scientific researches in universities and research institutions are not subjected to any inspection certificate, provided that the Certificate of Conformity relating to to these goods is issued by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock.
